Shooter Shreyasi Singh joins Bharatiya Janta Party prior to Bihar elections

Shooter Shreyasi Singh, has taken the step of joining Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) at the BJP headquarters in Delhi on Sunday in the presence of party leader Bhupendra Yadav.

Shreyasi Singh, daughter of ex-Union Minister late Digvijay Singh, has been a gold medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia and also won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. She is expected to represent the party from Amarpur (Banka) or Jamui, based on the seats shared with alliances.

Originally belonging from the Jamui district of Bihar, this is Shreyasi’s first entry into politics. Her father, who was the President of the National Rifle Association of India, has served as Union Deputy Minister for Ministry of Finance and Ministry of External Affairs. Shreyasi’s mother, Putul Kumari, has also been a political figure, served as an ex-MP from Banka.
