Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP), Praveen Sood on Friday stated that the people who were tested as Covid-19 positive and have disappeared further on are supposed to be traced and then to be charged with DM Act for their irresponsible behaviour and violation of the Covid-19 protocols.
He then urged the masses to stay at their respective homes and adhere to the lockdown protocols. While addressing the matter on Twitter, the DGP said, “The biggest service one can do is to switch off phone and disappear after receiving c+ report. Such people shall be traced and booked under DM Act for their misdemeanour and irresponsible act. One may not have symptoms but still, be spreader. Be responsible, cooperate and stay home.”
According to the official data given by the Union Health Ministry, the state of Karnataka currently has 3,49,515 active cases of Covid-19. The state has registered a count of 15,306 deaths from the time the pandemic started in 2020. And, in the previous 24 hours, Karnataka reported 20,612 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 270 fatalities associated to the deadly virus.
Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Friday appealed to the masses of the state amid the age group of 18 – 44 years to avoid going to hospitals on Saturday, May 1 stating that the state of Karnataka is yet to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine doses from Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII).
The country is going to enter the third phase of the vaccination drive on May 1 for the age group of above 18 years with the two available vaccines – Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Serum Institute of India’s Covishield.
