UAE delivers more than 5 L Favipiravir tablets to India

With the hard-hitting second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in India and the surge in cases, UAE took another step towards providing medical assistance by delivering more than 5 lakh tablets of an antiviral drug Favipiravir.

Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) wrote on Twitter, “Further deepening our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Thank our close partner & friend UAE for gifting over 5 lakh Favipiravir Tablet.”

Earlier, the UAE had sent a consignment of cryogenic oxygen tanks and medical aid to support India through the crisis.

As of now, an overall seven ISO tankers comprising of 20 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) have been sent from United Arab Emirates (UAE) and was received at Mundra Port in Gujarat, along with a special cargo of medical aid which included 157 ventilators, 480 BiPAPs, and other medical supplies, and 18 cryogenic oxygen containers.

India expresses gratitude towards the support extended by UAE, which has helped enhance oxygen availability, as tweeted by Arindam Bagchi earlier.

According to the data released by Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, India is observing a slight dip in the daily spike of cases with 3,29,942 fresh infections registered in the previous 24 hours. For the better part, India has recorded a higher amount of recoveries with 3,56,082 discharges, though a count of 3,876 fatalities were recorded raising the cumulative death count to 2,49,992.
