The United Arab Emirates (UAE) have announced about the country’s emergency approval for using their vaccine against Coronavirus on Monday. This approval is granted six weeks after human trials in the Gulf were initiated.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority mentioned the details in a tweet, “The vaccine will be available to our first line of defense heroes who are at the highest risk of contracting the virus.”
The move comes after UAE has rising cases of Covid-19 infections, and the country recorded 1,007 cases on Saturday, which is the highest number after the pandemic began and 777 fresh cases on Monday.
The vaccine has been approved for emergency use after being tested on 31,000 volunteers. It was observed that the vaccine had mild side effects but nothing severe to worry about.
The vaccine is produced by Chinese state-owned pharmaceutical company Sinopham and the phase III clinical trials of the Covid-19 vaccine is yet to done. The vaccine was subjected to trials in July in UAE.
