UK foreign secretary visits Yediyurappa, discusses about strengthening UK-Karnataka ties

UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab had visited India, and concluded it by formalizing some agreements in Bengaluru.

In his last day of visit to India, Raab visited Karnataka and had a meeting with chief minister B S Yediyurappa. They discussed about strengthening the UK-Karnataka relations pertaining to the aspects of climate change, higher education, trade and investment.

Dominic Raab also had a meeting with the research staff, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), who are currently inching towards completing the Rs 130 crore research project that will deliver a couple of ‘demonstrator ‘buildings which will have the capability of not just satiating their self-energy requirements, but will also circulate energy directing it to the local power grid. The project is an initiative of the Global Challenges Research Fund Project. While addressing the sustainability showcase conducted at IISc, Raab stated the joint investment of UK-Karnataka worth Rs 15 crore, is issued for Neev fund as an intent to provide financial assistance to the entrepreneurs working for green recovery projects. Raab said, “I saw this collaboration in action when I met entrepreneurs who are already at the cutting edge of India’s clean growth transition.”

”I heard about projects like Blue Planet, which is finding environment-friendly solutions to waste management, which is working to reduce emissions from diesel generators,” He further added.
