Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Sunday had a conversation on call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the initiatives to be taken for taking precautions amid the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic that is severely affecting the health infrastructure.
Yediyurappa appealed to PM Modi over providing enough supply of critical drugs and vaccines and also requested for additional oxygen supply for the state, as per the sources. Further, he also intimated PM Modi with the lockdown measures taken in the state.
Besides Yediyurappa, Modi also had a conversation with Chief Minister’s of Punjab, Uttarakhand and Bihar. Alongside, the Union Government released a fund of Rs 8,923.8 crore for 25 states to support Rural local bodies.
The state of Karnataka procured Rs 475.4 crore, which will be utilised for the prevention and mitigation measures and to accelerate the currently down healthcare facilities of the country. Karnataka has become one of the most affected states in the country with nearly 50,000 cases of Covid-19 being reported on a daily basis.
