Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa revealed on Wednesday that the decisions for extension of the lockdown in the state will be taken a day prior to the ending of the current lockdown on May 24. While addressing the reporters over the issue, Yediyurappa said, “The government still has time, we will hold discussions and a day before lockdown ends on May 24, we will announce the decision. Whether it will be extended or not, we will decide on May 23.”
The Karnataka Government had declared a “close-down” on April 27, and subsequently imposed a complete lockdown starting from May 10 as the state of Karnataka was recording more than 10,000 cases of Covid-19 and there was an increase in the death count particularly in Bengaluru. Starting from May 17, Bengaluru recorded 8,676 fresh cases of Coronavirus, raising the total count to 10,73,072 and the total fatalities have risen to 10,020.
Following the state health bulletin, Belagavi, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Kolar, Tumakuru, Ballari and Bengaluru Rural have recorded more than 1000 cases.
