Yediyurappa will complete the tenure as CM: Karnataka BJP chief

Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel revealed on Friday that the current chief minister BS Yediyurappa will finish the tenure as he issued orders to the party legislators to not interfere in any activities apart from Covid-19 management.

Kateel said, “There is no change, Yediyurappa is our unanimous leader. The Centre (central leadership) has already made it clear that there is no change, there is no such discussion…. it is not the subject of discussion in the party.”

While addressing the reporters, he spoke about the rising speculation regarding Yediyurappa’s tenure. He said, “Yediyurappa has completed two years and will complete the remaining term too.” He further said, “There is no change.Covid management is the responsibility of every legislator, public representative and party worker. The Chief Minister is involved in it, all our leaders too are involved.”

There have been indefinite rumors about the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pressurize Yediyurappa to leave the term as the state’s chief minister.

With the current condition of Covid-19 in the state, several MLAs are urging to conduct a legislature party meeting after June 7, the last day of the lockdown in the state. Ruling out the same, Kateel stated, “until Covid ends, party will not call any meeting….”

He further added, “I’m giving clear instructions that no legislator should be involved in any kind of activities other than Covid management. The only responsibility of every legislator is he should be in his constituency, serve people and take control measures.”
