A total of 100 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are being prepared in Bengaluru as an initiative of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Though, 77 beds are set up at CV Raman Hospital, and the remaining 24 ICU beds will be ready at the Epidemic Diseases Hospital, informed Karnataka Health and Medical Minister K Sudhakar on Saturday post visiting the hospitals.

A 1,000 LPM oxygen generator unit, allotted through PM Cares Fund, will be instituted at CV Raman Hospital.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will be inaugurating the ICUs and oxygen generator unit scheduled on June 7, Sudhakar further added.

While addressing the decreasing demand of beds, Sudhakar said, “The demand for beds is decreasing, as the number of COVID cases has reduced. However, the government will continue to ramp up the infrastructure to ensure preparedness for future waves.”

Sudhakar also stated the state has no shortage of medicines for treatment of Mucormycosis. He said, “Centre has allocated more than 100 vials of black fungus drug. Black fungus patients get free treatment in all government hospitals. We are also thinking of capping the price of treatment in private hospitals.”
