The Jal Shakti ministry has initiated a 100 day campaign undertaking the mission of Jal Jeevan Mission commencing on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The objective is to insure that the schools and anganwadi centres across the country will have safe piped water supply.
PM Modi addressed the launch of 100-day campaign commencing on Gandhi Jayanti, unraveled the logo of Jal Jeevan Mission which comes with a definite plan to provide portable tap water by 2024 to the rural households.
The Jal Shakti Ministry quoted, “During this 100-day campaign, gram sabhas will be convened coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, on October 2, 2020, and in coming days to pass a resolution for providing safe water in all schools, anganwadi centres and other public institutions in the villages in the next 100 days.”
Narendra Modi has drafted a letter to be sent to all the sarpanch (heads of village councils), driving them to work towards “har ghar jal (water for every household)”.
Modi’s letter stated, “The goal of Jal Jeevan Mission — Har Ghar Jal — can be realised only under the leadership of all sarpanches/ village community leaders. The contribution made by all of you in making this programme a huge success is creating history. Through JJM, you will not just be solving the issue of water supply, but will also address associated health risks such as cholera, diarrhoea, encephalitis, etc.”
On the eve of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, an event to be organized in Porbandar, where Chief Minister Vijay Rupani would be officially announcing for four districts of the state – Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Porbandar and Anand for having 100 % household tap water connections coverage.
