NIA detains a Khalistani terrorist at Delhi airport upon his eviction from Cyprus

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday caught and arrested the the Khalistani terrorist Gurjeet Singh Nijjar from the Delhi Airport on his eviction from Cyprus, where he had been keeping away from the world.

Nijjar has been taken into custody for engaging into a criminal conspiracy for repealing the Sikh militancy in India for an individual state in Khalistan.

Nijjar, originally a resident in Amritsar, had left for Cyprus in October 2017, according to the release by NIA, which further stated that he will be sent to Mumbai for detailed investigation.

The NIA had filed a case on January 10 last year and another accused Harpal Singh charging sections 3 & 25 of the Arms Act, 1959, Section 135 and 37 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 and Section 20 of the Unlawful activities Act, 1967.

The NIA release added, “Pro-Khalistani posts related to a proscribed outfit named Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) were also put up to motivate like-minded Sikh youths and others to join the Khalistani movement.”

The arrest of Nijjar is a week after the NIA had sentenced and convicted an engineer from Tamil Nadu Mohammed Naseer Packer with seven years of imprisonment for the Islamic State (ISIS) conspiracy case.
