Bengaluru News: In a shocking case of human trafficking and organized crime, the Bengaluru police have busted a high-tech prostitution racket involving out-of-state women. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested the mastermind, Anil Kumar Reddy, under the stringent Goonda Act.
The Prostitution Racket Uncovered
Anil Kumar Reddy was running a network of prostitution rackets by luring women from Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and other states. Operating through various spas across Bengaluru, he coerced these women into the sex trade. His illegal operations also extended to bringing foreign nationals, including women from Thailand, to Bengaluru.
The accused now faces multiple charges, including human trafficking and rape. Police Commissioner’s orders have resulted in Reddy’s transfer to Bellary Jail under the Goonda Act provisions.
How Police Busted the Racket
In January, the CCB conducted a raid at Nirvana International Spa near the Tin Factory area in KR Puram, Bengaluru. During the raid, 44 women, including Thai nationals, were rescued. The spa was immediately shut down following the operation.
Further investigations revealed that Anil Reddy was exploiting women by promising them legitimate jobs in Bengaluru but forcing them into prostitution upon their arrival. Based on a detailed report by the Mahadevapura police, the Goonda Act was invoked to detain Reddy and curb his operations.
Why This Case Matters
