Strongly focusing on digitization, the Karnataka state government is going to provide smartphones to 60,000 Anganwadi teachers and make them tech-savvy
Following the guidelines of the Poshan Abhiyan scheme of the Union government, it is mandatory to feed the updates of the activities done on a regular basis on a national portal called Common Application Service (CAS), which is done via a smartphone. The government had managed the funds about three years ago, though providing the cellphones was delayed due to numerous factors.
Currently, the women’s and child development department of Karnataka has delivered the cellphones to the taluk level officials. Th teachers will have a mini-training programme and thereafter, the smartphones will be provided to them on Wednesday.
These initiative will make their job convenient in terms of updating the health record of the children with parameters like height, weight, growth, immunization status, and other information. The initiative costed ₹ 65 crores which is inclusive of the price of the cellphones along with the network effective SIM Cards and 60% of the financial support was backed up by the Centre.
This will end the practice of maintaining the records in the registers and data will be managed via the cellphones.
