The special CBI court in Lucknow today passed the verdict pertaining to Babri Masjid, which has acquitted all the 32 accused involved in the Masjid’s demolition.

The Babri Masjid, which was standing at the Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya, has caused a lot of conflicts. Special Judge S K Yadav stated that the Masjid’s demolition “was not pre-planned”, and that the accused leaders which comprises of BJP founder – LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi had made their own attempts to inhibit the demolition by “anti-social elements”.

Six of the 32 accused, were attending the hearing through video-conferencing which comprises of LK Advani, MM Joshi and Uma Bharti.

LK Advani, MM Joshi and various other BJP leaders were very elated with the verdict, referencing it as “the victory of truth”.

Advani stated that, “The judgment vindicates my personal and the BJP’s belief and commitment towards the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. I also feel blessed that this judgment has come in the footsteps of another landmark verdict of the Supreme Court given in November 2019, which paved the way for my long cherished dream of seeing a grand Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, the foundation-laying ceremony of which was held on August 5.”

However, the verdict has not been taken up positively by the Congress leaders. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Sujrewala expressed his discontent in a tweet, “The decision of the Special Court to acquit all the accused in #BabriMasjidDemolitionCase runs counter to Supreme Court Judgement as also the Constitutional spirit.”
