Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the 23rd edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) by video conferencing. The BTS programme, streaming online, is considered to be one of the biggest virtual event in Asia with the theme ‘Now is Next’ featuring Multi-track Conference, International Exhibition, Global Innovation Alliance, STPI-IT Export Awards, Smart Bio Awards and also Bengaluru Impact Awards.
Held virtually, BTS will also have featured events for students like Biotech Quiz, BioTech Posters and Rural IT Quiz.
In the virtual ceremony, Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa said the government of Karnataka will make sincere attempts for pushing India to be a $5 trillion economy as early as 2025. With the recent IT Policy 2020-2025, the government is planning to expand the tech ecosystem surpassing the realms of Bengaluru and centre Karnataka as the most favorable point for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and inch closer towards being major Data Hub.
Inaugurating the 23rd edition of BTS virtually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed various subjects starting from Digital India initiative, Ayushman Bharat and India’s resilience and fighting spirit particularly boosted by technology amid the Covid-19 induced pandemic.
Modi said the resilient technology has aided in stepping over the challenges induced by Covid-19 pandemic and facilitated the working professionals to work from home and every other place.
We will observe a high amount of technology adoption in the sectors of education, agriculture and various other arenas, PM further added.
Highlighting the technical assistance aided to farmers, PM Modi said the crores of farmers can obtain monetary support by just one click. When the country was facing intense lockdown, technology provided relief by catering to proper and quick assistance for the poor.
PM Modi iterated that India has a clear advantage when it comes to Innovation.
Narendra Modi further emphasized on the easy mode of payment with BHIM Unified Payment Interface (UPI) which helped the public with cash less transactions which accounts to Rs 2 billion transactions through out.
At the virtual summit, also present were Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison, Vice President of Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin and also the Director General of STPI Dr Omkar Rai.
