Bolivian firefighters, civilians and military personnel were constantly fighting to protect their houses and settle the raging fire that had hit over a million hectares (2.5 million acres) of farmlands and forests as per the reports given by officials on Wednesday.
According to the reports of the government, there were over 26 active fires in the agricultural regions of Santa Cruz and Beni . The present rainfall has lowered the potential fire from 3,128 to 1,377.
Defense Minister Fernando Lopez stated that, “The firefighters of the armed forces continue, the volunteer firefighters continue and today three helicopters will be incorporated to support the areas where the heat sources are most intense.”
Contrary to the government, the environmental group Friends of Nature Foundation have given an estimate of 2.3 million hectares affected by the fire from the beginning of the year.
