Britain’s Prince William launches 5 global environmental prizes worth one million pound

Britain’s Prince William will be launching a multi-million pound global prize on Thursday with the objective to resolve some of the major environmental issues going on in the world.

The Earthshot Prize will be be awarding an amount of one million pound for 5 prizes till the next consecutive 10 years with the sections of protection and restoration of nature, cleaner air, revival of oceans, reduction of waste and climate change. 

For the awards ceremony in the autumn in the following year, the nominations will be welcomed from November 1.

Prince William, 38, will be stating the BBC Radio in conversation with naturalist David Attenborough, “By 2030 we really hope to have made huge strides in fixing some of the biggest problems the Earth faces..”

“I think that urgency with optimism really creates action. And so the Earthshot Prize is really about harnessing that optimism and that urgency to find solutions to some of the world’s greatest environmental problems,” Prince William added that.

50 solutions to resolve the environmental crisis of the world

The prizes would provide environmental relief with a minimum of 50 solutions to curb the environmental issues in the world.

The jury to decide the Earthshot Prize Council will include people from the environmental, philanthropic, business, sporting and entertainment worlds. The awards ceremony for the year 2021 will be held in London, followed by different cities in the world.
