British Health Secretary: New mutated Coronavirus has link with South Africa

Matt Hancock, British Health Secretary revealed on Wednesday in a media briefing, regarding the new Covid-19 strain found in Britain, which has connection with South Africa.

Hancock stated, “A new, potentially more infectious variant of the novel Coronavirus that causes COVID-19 has been found in Britain in cases is linked to South Africa.”

The new virus has been discovered in two people in UK, who have had been in regular contact with people who have travelled from South Africa to UK.

Hancock further added, “Thanks to the impressive genomic capability of the South Africans, we’ve detected two cases of another new variant of Coronavirus here in UK.”

With the discovery in the newly mutated virus, the country is having more stringent regulations and tighter restrictions as the transmission factor has increased by 70 per cent. He further added, “This new variant is highly concerning, because it si yet more transmissible, and it appears to have mutated further than the new variant has been discovered in the UK.”

The new strain has imposed travel restrictions between South Africa and Britain. Major countries around the globed have also restricted the travel between UK and South Africa, as a precautionary measure for the newly identified, fast spreading strains of Coronavirus.
