Mumbai: Devendra Fadnavis has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra and will take the oath of office today (Thursday). In the Maha Yuti (Grand Alliance) government, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar have secured Deputy Chief Ministers’ positions. The alliance’s power-sharing formula is expected to be revealed today.
In 2019, after losing the CM position, Fadnavis famously declared, “Like the ocean, I will return.” Now, five years later, he has fulfilled that promise. After being ousted due to differences with then-CM Uddhav Thackeray, Fadnavis has reclaimed his role as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan this evening at 5:30 PM, with preparations in full swing. On Wednesday, leaders of the Maha Yuti alliance met with the Governor at Raj Bhavan to stake their claim to form the government. BJP leader Fadnavis expressed gratitude to Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar for supporting his nomination as CM.
While BJP has retained the CM post, Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde and NCP’s Ajit Pawar have agreed to take on the roles of Deputy Chief Ministers. Shinde is also expected to handle the Home Department along with other significant portfolios.
The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Ministers of various NDA-ruled states. READ THIS- Shock for ‘Pushpa 2’ in Karnataka: Screening Halted
