Farmers leaders refused the lunch provided by the government amid their meeting with the Union ministers on Thursday and made their own arrangements for lunch by eating at the ferried van along the Singhu border, where thousands of farmers from different parts of the country are protesting for the eighth consecutive day.

The farmers, who demand revoking the three key farm bills passed, were protesting side by which the fourth round of talks were conducted.

Amid the lunch time, a van carrying food for 40 people was seen in the vicinity of Vigyan Bhawan where the meetings were being held.

Lok Sangharsh Morcha president, Pratibha Shinde revealed to PTI, “Our farmers’ representatives did not accept the lunch offered by the government and we arranged it from the Singhu border.”

Farmers leaders indicated the government should work towards resolving the issues over being good and offering lunch, she said.

Shinde said, “How can we have lunch offered by the government when our fellow farmers are sitting on roads.”

With the ongoing protests along the Singhu and Tikri border, a meeting was scheduled between farmers leaders and three Union ministers – Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Railways, Commerce and Food Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Prakash at the Vigyan Bhawan. According to the government records, the meeting commenced in the afternoon and the discussions were held in a cooperative manner.
