Farmers from different parts of the country are protesting along the Singhu border, where Delhi Police has tightened the security to contain the protests when they get violent.

Surendra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police, Northern Range stated, “Situation is peaceful and under control. We are in contact with them (farmers). Our objective is to maintain law and order. We have deployed enough force.”

Farmers are conducting a peace driven protest at the Singhu border commemorating 551st Prakash Parv of the first Sikh Guru. Sukhvinder Singh Sabhran, Punjab Kisan Sangarash Committee Joint Secretary said, “Today, we are sitting here on the day of Guru Parv here. The central government is not ready to listen to us or there is no platform for discussion with them, we are not going to leave from here. There is also enough food and we also want to thank the people of Delhi for the way they are supporting us.”

Joint CP Surendra Yadav revealed the farmers are protesting peacefully at the Singhu border. He added, “We are not facing any problem of any kind. We have enough force to deal with any situation in any way. We are also providing all kinds of facilities for the farmers here apart from medical facilities.”

Security has been tightened along the Ghazipur-Ghaziabad (Delhi-UP) border where farmers have assembled for the protest. In various parts of Delhi and Haryana, farmers have protested and turned down the Centre’s offer of having a discussion on December 3 iterating that enforcing conditions for having a conversation is an insult to them.

The farmers are protesting against the three key farm bills passed by the Centre which includes the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation), Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
