The Farmers Unions will have an intricate discussion about the draft of proposals which will be issued by the Centre on Wednesday and are expecting that it will ease out the ongoing tension by giving some clarity on the subject by today evening, stated Bhartiya Kisan Union’s spokesperson, Rakesh Tikait.

While addressing the media at Gazipur border, Tikait said, “we’ll hold a meeting over the draft that will be sent by the Centre. The sixth round with the government which was scheduled for today remains cancelled. The Union Government wants to send us a draft of the proposal and wants us to look at it. We will decide our further course of action after looking at the draft and discussing it among ourselves. We hope things will be clear by 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm today.”

Hannan Mollah, General Secretary, All India Kisan Sabha stated that all major farmer leaders are planning to meet at noon along the Singhu border, for further talks about the next step.

Mollah said, “Nothing new was said in yesterday’s meeting with Union Ministers. They want to send a written proposal. If they talk about repealing the laws in the proposal, we’ll schedule the next round of meetings. Otherwise, we don’t know what will be the further course of action.”

The leaders of the Farmers Unions had a meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal at Shah’s residence on Tuesday to discuss about the agricultural laws passed in September.

Alongside, a meeting is scheduled of President Ram Nath Kovind with the Opposition Parties said General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury of CPI (M). The meeting is for making a collective decision on the farm laws.
