Germany has announced their decision of taking in 1,500 Moria migrants who were stranded due to a fire destroying their refugee camp. The government has taken the decision on Tuesday according to the sources as gesture of solidarity with its fellow European Union member state.

Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkei, passed through the decision after a rise in the opinion polls by her conservative party, at the cost of far-right Alternative for Germany party.

The fire in the Moria migrant camp on Lesbos has impacted over 12,000 refugees, where people from Afghanistan, Africa and Syria were rendered homeless with lack of proper sanitation and food.

In an interview with Reuters, the German government stated that Germany would provide for migrants whose asylum applicants have already been approved. A ministry spokesperson revealed that the proposal has been passed which will be discussed by the conservative members of the parliament.

The 1,500 migrants will be inclusive of 100-150 children that Merkel’s government desires to provide shelter to.
