Google has dislodged Paytm app from Play Store

Google, search engine giant, citing user privacy has dislodged Paytm app from the Google Play Store. Earlier, Google along with Apple had taken off Epic Games’ Fortnite, which is a gaming app pointing out violation of App Store policies and thwarting the commission payment.

Though there is no peculiar statement issued by the company for taking down Paytm, Google has put forth a press note highlighting user privacy. This gives an indication regarding Paytm’s hosting of gambling games and persuading betting on sports.

Suzanne Frey, Vice President of Product, Android Security and Privacy has revealed in an official statement, “We have the same goals for our gambling policy. We don’t allow online casinos or support any unregulated gambling apps that facilitate sports betting. This includes if an app leads consumers to an external website that allows them to participate in paid tournaments to win real money or cash prizes, it is a violation of our policies.”

But, Paytm app is still accessible for download and usage at Apple Play Store. Users can continue to transact via the digital wallet via iPhones and iPads. In response to this issue, Paytm gave a confirmation about its ban on Google Play Store and also gave an assurance message to the users. Their tweet quoted, “Dear Paytm’ers, Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Google’s Play Store for new downloads or updates. It will be back very soon. All your money is completely safe, and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as normal.”
