Govt of India bans 43 additional Chinese apps

The Government of India on Tuesday banned the accessibility to 43 additional Chinese mobile applications, which also comprises of Alibaba Workbench, AliExpress,, Alipay Cashier, CamCard and WeDate citing that the applications are prejudicial pertaining to the sovereignty, integrity and defence of the country.

As per an official release, he order for the ban of the applications has been directed by the Ministry of Electronics and IT as per the reports issued by Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center, Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to the sources, the applications are of Chinese region.

On June 29, the government had banned a count of 59 applications and moving further, 118 more applications were banned again citing Section 69 A of the Information Technology Act.

The release stated, “Government of India today issued an order under section 69A of the Information Technology Act blocking access to 43 mobile apps. This action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.”
