Healthcare workers express pride after Coid-19 immunization, appeal to people to ignore the efficacy rumors

As the largest vaccination drive of the world commenced in the country on Saturday, the healthcare workers express pride post the Covid-19 immunization. Biji Tomy, the nurse who was administered the first shot at LNJP hopsital run by Delhi government said, “I feel proud and humbled to be a part of this historic moment.”

Among the healthcare workers in Delhi who were administered the shots at the 81 sites in the city, the sentiment of pride prevailed. Vikas Dogra, head of Pulmonology Department at Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, after the immunization, appealed to the people to ignore the efficacy rumours. He told to PTI, “I didn’t feel anything after vaccination. Those who are spreading rumours that the vaccine is not safe, I want to say that they are not experts. It is a baseless thing and I want to tell people that they should not believe in rumours.”

Sandeep Nayar, head of respiratory department, BLK Super Speciality Hospital said, “here is no local or systematic reaction. I will advise everyone to get the shots when their turn comes. Don’t fall for rumours. The vaccines are safe.”

Naveen Kumar, from LNJP Hospital’s administrative department revealed to PTI, “I felt absolutely normal when the jab was given. Drawing a blood from veins pricks more.”

The vaccination drive was conducted across 81 sites based in 11 districts. The drive included various government hospitals – AIIMS, Safdargunj, Kalawati Saran Children Hospital, RML Hopsital and two ESI hospitals. The private hospitals – Max Hospital, Fortis Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital are also a part of the vaccination drive.
