The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has updated the results of its online entrance exams three times in a row over the past few days. The date of results declaration was originally scheduled for October 30, but, was updated twice, on October 31 and November 2 , as some technical glitches were reported.
IIMC considering the present pandemic situation, had conducted an online entrance exam, as a one-time measure. The candidates appeared for the entrance test on October 18 conducted by the support of National Testing Agency.
Technical glitches were proclaimed by many candidates who went to social media platform Twitter to put forth their concern regarding the errors invoked in the result declaration on October 30. The students used the hashtag #iimcentrancescam, students addressed the emerging issues, with some candidates assigned over one seat and some whose results were restrained, assigned a merit seat.
The results were initially updated on October 31, following which, further updated on November 2. As per the notification displayed on the institute’s website, the NTA had discovered 28 candidates engaging in unethical means amid the entrance exam conducted virtually, which has led to the institute restraining their results and they are further evicted from appearing for the entrance test for a year’s time.
IIMC additional Director General, K Satish Nambudiripad stated, “The institute immediately revised the results after some technical errors were reported. There were some inadvertent clerical errors and we have ratified them.”
