India, Bangladesh 19th HSLT organized virtually, Celebrations for 50 years diplomacy

India and Bangladesh have mutually agreed to strengthen the level of cooperation inclining towards preventing smuggling of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) and contraband throughout the borders amid the 19th Home Secretary Level Talks (HSLT) on Saturday ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh.

As per the official release by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the 19th HSLT was organized virtually between India and Bangladesh with the backdrop of ‘MujibBarsho’, with 50 years of Bangladesh Liberation War and creating diplomatic ties amid the two countries.

Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Home Secretary, Mostafa Kamal Uddin, Senior Secretary, Public Security Division headed the Indian delegation and Ministry of Home Affairs of Bangladesh led the Bangladesh delegation.

MHA said, “Both sides discussed early completion of pending fencing along the Indo-Bangladesh Border (IBB) as agreed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries.”

The statement added that both India and Bangladesh acknowledged the cooperation amid the two countries and the action taken to resolve terrorism and extremism in an effective manner.

MHA added, “The effective functioning of the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) to control the illegal cross border activities was appreciated by both sides. Both sides also agreed to further enhance the level of cooperation to prevent the smuggling of FICN and contraband.”
