India lashes out at Hamas rocket action against Israel, backs Palestine

With reference to the situation in the Middle-East, India has lashed out at “indiscriminate rocket firing” via Hamaz from Gaza which is concentrated at the civilian population of Israel while backing up Palestinian cause and its dedication to the two-state solution.

Though the UN Security Council has not released any situation on the aggravated situation after Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi termed it as a block by one country, the US can feel much pressure to deliberate on the position of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

On May 16, UN Permanent Representative issued an Indian statement that utilized the word “retaliatory strikes” by Israel over Hamas action. The words have been presented after much deliberation that India also has been a victim of cross-border tension slashed by Pakistan. The Indian statement stated, “We reiterate our strong condemnation of all acts of violence, provocation, incitement and destruction.”

Although, India has lashed out at the Hamas action, it has been firm with the conventional line of conversation which happened between Israeli and Palestinian authorities along with remaining committed to two-state solution. The state said, “Immediate de-escalation is the need of the hour, so as to arrest any further slide towards the brink. We urge both sides to show extreme restraint, desist from actions that exacerbate tensions, and refrain from attempts to unilaterally change the existing status quo, including in East Jerusalem and its neighbourhood.”

It can be indicated that allies of Israel have told Tel Aviv in secrecy to have full restraint otherwise it will further isolate itself from the world community.
As New Delhi has good relationship with Israel and Arab, India position is curated carefully and supports Palestinian cause. The Hamas action from Gaza against Israel subsequently complicated the issue with few supporters from Sunni group in the PLO, which is headed by Mahmoud Abbas, the current president of the State of Palestine and Palestine National Authority.
