With the largest vaccination drive in the world, India has also become the first country to surpass the 4 million mark for vaccination against Covid-19, in a period of 18 days, revealed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday with the record of 41,38,918 health and frontline workers given the vaccine shot.
In a formal statement, the Health Ministry stated, “As on 1st February, 2021, India was among the top five countries in terms of number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered to people. India continues to undertake its vaccination drive at a fast pace.”
With the improvements in the present scenario of Covid-19 in the country, the ministry added that 14 new states and Union territories have not recorded any deaths or fatalities pertaining to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. Some of them include Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Goa, Odisha, Assam, Ladakh, Mizoram, Puducherry, Tripura, Nagaland, Ladakh.
The current caseload in the country has dropped to 160,100, which is a small fraction, 1.49 per cent of the overall positive cases whereas the total number of recoveries exceeded 10.46 million. The health ministry stated, “With a high number of COVID patients recovering every day and the sustained fall in the mortality rate, India’s steady trend of registering dipping active cases continues.”
According to the Health Ministry, a total of 11,039 fresh cases have been recorded and alongside recoveries accounting to 14,225 were recorded. Around, 85 per cent of the recovered cases come from Kerala followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
