Indigo flight tyre bursts in Hubli amid landing, passengers safe and unhurt

The passengers and crew members on the Indigo flight, fortunately, escaped the tyre burst out amid landing in Hubli in Karnataka, on Monday evening. The IndiGo flight 6E-7979, started from Kannur in Kerala had a tyre burst out while it was landing in Hubli. The aircraft is currently being repaired in Hubli. The authorities have announced the plane to be aircraft on ground (AOG). An investigation is initiated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

A very similar accident happened in 2018, when 20 flights were shifted to and from Hyderabad airport post a tyre burst while landing of an IndiGo aircraft in Hyderabad. This impacted the operations for over a couple of hours.

In March 2018, an IndiGo 7117 aircraft on board with 77 passengers which started from Tirupati airport and landed at Hyderabad airport. One of the tires burst while landing, however, the airline officials revealed that all the passengers were unhurt and evacuated them soon after. The worst of them happened in Kerala when the Air India Express plane crashed which killed 18 people. The Boeing 737 flight started from Dubai, skidded away from the runaway due to the heavy rains and broke into two parts. The pilots died on the spot and 156 of the 190 passengers had severe injuries. The incident happened on August 7, 2020 at 7.40 pm.
