ISRO launches 42nd communication satellite CMS-01 of India successfully

The Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) PSLV-C50 successfully launched the 42nd communication satellite CMS-01 on Thursday from Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

The PSLV-C50 was lifted off from the Second Launch Pad at exact 3:41 pm and CMS-01 was instituted into its chosen orbit post a flight of around 20 minutes and 12 seconds, post which, solar panels of CMS-01 were inherently getting deployed and ISRO’s Master Control Facility at Hassan assumed the monitoring of the satellite.

PSLV-C50 was launched from the Second Launch Pad of SDSC SHAR at 3:41 pm along with CMS-01. Post the flight journey of 20 minutes and 12 seconds, the vehicle instituted the satellite into its intended orbit.

Post the launch of the satellite, ISRO chairman Dr K Sivan revealed that the satellite was functioning normally and would be injected in a particular slot by the coming four days till December 21. He expressed his greeting and congratulations to the team for their hard work and efforts. He said, “This launch has successfully taken place because of the hard work of both the launch vehicle team and the satellite team. The staff worked very well and safely despite the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Regarding the PSLV-C51 mission, the ISRO chairman stated the mission will carry three satellites created by private entities. He said, “The mission will be the fruition of the space reforms recently introduced in the country.”

The communication satellite CMS-01 caters to the services in the extended-C band of the frequency coverage will be comprising the Indian mainland, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands.
