Jaishankar: Appreciate solidarity shown by world leaders over lives lost in Uttarakhand flood

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday appreciated the solidarity expressed by the various ministers and world leaders from different countries over the lives lost in the Uttarakhand floods triggered by glacier burst.

Jaishankar took to twitter to express his appreciation. He tweeted, “Deeply appreciate the solidarity expressed by my colleagues around the world on the tragic loss of lives caused by a glacier breach in Chamli Uttarakhand yesterday. Value your support in this difficult time.”

While posting the tweet, Jaishankar tagged various leaders which comprises of foreign ministers of various countries – Czech Republic, Australia, Maldives and Portgual.

Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering expressed his condolences regarding the lives lost amid the flash floods in the earlier part of the day. He tweeted, “Sending prayers for the souls lost to the Uttarakhand flood and wishing courage to those who are fighting the disaster. May those who are still missing be found in good health. We are with you, dear friends in India.” UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also expressed their condolences regarding the natural disaster. More than 200 people have been missing in disaster which invoked heavy flooding for Dhauliganga and Alaknanada rivers, as per Uttarakhand chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. Rawat added, “Around 203 people are missing including 11 dead bodies are recovered as of now. We are estimating that 305 people are stuck in another tunnel. Rescue operation is underway.”
