Karnataka government permits most of the staff to work from home

With the increasing number of cases of Covid-19, along with the commencement of the lockdown, the state government has given permit to work from home for majority of the staff.


The officials working in the key department for Covid-19 which comprises of Health and Family Welfare Department, Medical Education Department, Home Department and Revenue Department will have to report to work following the circular released by Chief Secretary P Ravi kumar on Tuesday.
For a count of 11 departments, which are Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Urban Development, Energy, Food and Civil Supplies, DPAR, Finance, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Labour, Commerce and industries, will be operational with around 50 per cent of the staff and the remaining staff has been alloted work from home.


Apart from the aforesaid departments, the remaining employees from all the departments have been given the permit to work from home, unless their physical presence is needed by the respective Department heads, according to the circular.


The government has given a clear exemption to the differently able and the pregnant women to work from home. Further on, the chief secretary has recommended the departments to provide a vehicle pooling option for the officials who are coming to work. All the exemptions will be imposed till the end of the 14 days lockdown which ends on May 12.
