Karnataka ready with 243 centres for the Covid-19 vaccination drive

A total count of 243 centres have been all set and prepared for the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive in different parts of the state which will commence from January 16 and will include the vaccination centres based in Bengaluru, stated K Sudhakar, Karnataka Health Minister and Medical Education Minister on Friday.

Sudhakar stated the Covid-19 vaccination drive will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bengaluru Medical College on January 16. He was addressing the media post a video conference with the district health officers to discuss about the vaccination drive.

Sudhakar said Serum Institute of India’s Covishield vaccine will be supplied in 237 centres and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin will be sent in 6 centres which includes in Bellary, Shivamogga, Hassan, Chikmagalur, Chamarajnagar and Davanagere.

In the first phase of the vaccination which commences on January 16, a total of 7,17,439 health warriors will be administered the vaccine and the target is to vaccinate 24,300 people for the first day of the vaccination drive. The first phase is anticipated to be complete in a week’s period with 8,14,500 doses of vaccine to be administered said the minister.

He said that the vaccination sites will have an emergency medical service for immediate treatment in any case if any side effect is observed after administering the vaccine. He further added that a lot of news is being viral on social media, however, the people should only refer to the authenticated official government handles. The minister further added that people should take the vaccine without any fear.
