Karnataka student who attempted NEET re-exam by Yediyurappa’s assistance qualifies

Medical aspirant, Tanuja Karregowda, who was reportedly helped by Karnataka chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and state Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar for attending the NEET exam, qualified it with a score of 586 from 720.

Tanjua had put a social media post highlighting her plight, Yediyurappa and Sudhakar had urged the officials to allow her take the test, following which she wrote the exam at Basavangudi centre, revealed an official release.

Being a farmer’s child, Tanuja hails from Shikaripura in Shivamogga, which is incidentally also the hometown of Yediyurappa. Earlier, during the first round of NEET exam, Tanuja had developed symptoms of Covid-19 and, for the second round, she was unable to put through her application owing to Covid-19 restrictions and technical issues.

The official release stated, “But due to some technical glitches and due to Covid restrictions, she could not send the documents in time. She was about to lose the opportunity to appear in exams, about which she has posted in the social media.”

Post the exam scheduled on September 13, Tanuja was quoted saying, “I have an ambition to serve society as a surgeon. I have done well in the exam without any stress, I am thankful to the Chief Minister and Minister Sudhakar.”
