Bengaluru: The Malleshwaram police in Bengaluru are intensifying their investigation into the ‘KEA’ seat-blocking scam. Authorities have already arrested 10 individuals, including the alleged kingpin of the operation. As part of the ongoing probe, police have issued notices to three prominent engineering colleges in the city, instructing them to appear for questioning.
The colleges that received the notices are New Horizon College of Engineering, BMS College of Engineering, and Akash Institute of Engineering. The police have requested these institutions to provide student admission records and cooperate with the investigation.
The main accused in the case, identified as Harsha, along with others (Ravishankar, Puneeth, Shashikumar, Purushotham, Prakash, and Avinash), has been arrested. Harsha is believed to be the kingpin of the scam.
The allegations against the accused include blocking seats allocated through counseling for students who either did not join or opted out of their assigned colleges. These seats were then illegally sold to others under the management quota for large sums of money. The accused reportedly carried out these deals with the help of intermediaries.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are scrutinizing records from the colleges involved to gather deeper insights into the scam.
