Spread the love

The district town of Koppal in the backward region of North Karnataka will have a 4000 acre Special Economic Zone for making toys, first of its kind in the country.India is known for its traditional craft of toy-making but its global share against China’s exports leaves much to be desired.

Under the new Union Government initiative of Atma Nirbhar Bharath, a whopping investment of Rs. 5000 crores will be made in the Koppal SEZ.

The project is expected to witness a growth rate of 18 per cent per annum and a market share of Rs. 2300 crores by 2023.

The new SEZ is likely to generate 40000 jobs and boost the developmental activities in the region.

The toy making cluster is perched on NH 63 and connects Belagavi airport. Incidentally, Karnataka occupies a place of pride in toy manufacturing in the country.
