Manipal Hospitals plan to acquire full stake in Columbia Asia Hospital

Manipal Hospitals declared on Monday their plan and intention to obtain 100 per cent stake in Columbia Asia Hospitals Private Limited (Columbia Asia).

Manipal Hospitals stated that acquiring Columbia Asia Hospitals will provide them the edge with a “remarkable geographical and cultural fit”. Further, the acquisition will also cater to a larger national footprint.

After the merger, Manipal Hospitals will be a group of overall 27 hospitals based in 15 cities in the country having 7,200 beds and an amalgamation of more than 4,000 doctors and over 10,000 total employees, said Manipal Hospitals in an official statement.

Manipal Hospitals revealed the acquisition will give them the opportunity of treating more than four million patients on yearly-basis, thereby pushing it to be the largest healthcare provider networks in India.

“Columbia Asia makes a compelling strategic fit to our core values of clinical excellence, patient centricity and ethical practices, and will help us advance our commitment to provide outstanding patient care,” said Dr Ranjan Pai, Chairman of Manipal Education and Medical Group.

Columbia Asia Hospitals Private Limited started its journey with a hospital unit based in Hebbal, Bengaluru, which began its operations in 2005. Currently, the healthcare network comprises of 11 hospitals in different cities of the country which includes Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kolkata, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Patiala and Pune. The chain hospitals have overall more than 1,300 beds, 4,000 employees, and 1,200 clinicians, the official statement revealed.
