A higher number of Covid – 19 patients are dying in the private hospitals at Bengaluru as per the analysis of the official data. Considering the figures over the last 10 days, for instance, a count of 350 patients have died in the city.And, from the 350 deaths, 67 % deaths have occurred in the private hospitals.
Though the government officers and activists have cast a blame on the private establishments, the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA) credited the higher deaths to higher enrollment of Covid-19 patients. Based on the official records, the present count is 8,110 patients admitted through the government quota in 90 private hospitals when assessed from September 1. Around 6,319 people have been additionally admitted through the same quota in 8 private medical colleges
in the city. From the active cases of 37,703, in the city, 38 % of it comprises of the admitted 14,429 people through the government quota.
