The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has clearly stated that all the citizens who are caught on multiple occasions guilty of not wearing a mask will be charged with criminal prosecution.
The frequent surge in the Coronavirus cases has invoked the civic body to take the necessary stringent action. Earlier, it had proposed for an increase in fine of Rs. 1,000 for everybody not wearing a mask.
BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad had iterated that despite charging fines on the civilians, they continue to remain negligent on the issue of wearing a mask. He further addressed the increase in fine from Rs. 200 to Rs. 1,000 to be notified by the state government.
Adding to the 230 marshals, the BBMP plans to employ 120 new ones for enforcing stringent care on the mask violation issue. The marshals are equipped with specific devices with which they capture the image of the violators and feed the place and details of the violation and print and hand over the receipt for the offences.
Meanwhile, the total number of cases in the state have been recorded as 6,11,837 and taken the lives of 8,894 people.
