Various renowned institutions along with several countries have appreciated the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 of India and describe it as the biggest reform on a global scale and have also expressed their interest towards implementing it, stated Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Saturday.
While speaking at the 97th annual convocation of Delhi University, Pokhriyal mentioned about the new education policy that has been put forth and implemented in the country after much deliberation and will “Reform, Perform and Transform” for India.
The minister described the NEP 2020 as “impactful, interactive, innovative and inclusive” which is built on the foundation of “equity, quality and access”.
He said, “Cambridge, the UAE, Australia, Mauritius, Indonesia, .. and many others have said India’s NEP is the world’s biggest reform and that they want to implement in their countries as well. It is both national and international, supports ‘vocal for local’ and also local for global. This will bring a new set of opportunities for students,” thereby motivating the students of Delhi University to be the flag bearers of the new policy and further work on its implementation by embracing “mission-mode”.
NEP 2020, is a new reform after as many as 34 years approved by the Union Cabinet. Its main objective is carving the road that leads to transformation of the reforms for school and higher educational institutions that will change India into a global knowledge superpower.
Pokhriyal further appreciated the efforts of the teachers leading to the achievements of the Indian Education System that shaped with digitalization and saved the academic year for the 33 crore students. He added, “We conducted the exams on time, the results were out on time, and also JEE or NEET — world’s biggest examination in the corona era — were conducted successfully. Also, we provided online education to 33 crore students. This was huge, something that you don’t even think of in your dreams, but we did it and did it successfully.”
