Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday initiated the Siddhabali Jan Shatabdi Special Train that are operational between Kotdwar in Uttarakhand and Delhi junction.
Goyal flagged off the train via video conferencing method and amid the ceremony, he expressed the gratitude to the railway employees who were at the duty amid the Covid-19 pandemic by supplying medicines, coal and other essential things.
He revealed the Kotdwar-Delhi route electrification will be almost finished with around 15 km stretch held up which is anticipated to be finished by this month. The minister said, “After this, trains on electric traction will ply from Kotdwar to Delhi. It will also save the environment. Going forward all the trains will run on electric traction in the entire Uttarakhand. This will ensure net zero carbon emission and protection of the environment in the state.”
He also said that railway projects based in Uttarakhand are flourishing well and ₹4,432 crore has been assigned for the projects for the budget 2021-22 which estimates 23 times more than average budget of 2009-14 for the state.
The three new lines projects are in-process for Uttarakhand, the work of the railway line operational amid Rishikesh and Karnaprayag is developing at a proper pace, he said.
The Kotdwar-Delhi Siddhabai Jan Shatabdi Express special train will be starting from Kotdwar at 15.50 hours and will be arriving at Delhi Junction at 22.20 hours daily while Delhi Jn – Kotdwar Siddhabali Jan Shatabdi Express train will depart from Delhi starting 07.00 hours and will be going to Kotdwar at 13.40 hours daily.
The train was operational as the ‘Inaugural Special Train’ as Wednesday.
