S Jaishankar meets Nigerian NSA Babagana Monguno

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Friday welcomed Nigerian National Security Adviser (NSA) Babagana Monguno and acknowledged the common traditions, strong solidarity and the general goals and aspirations shared by Nigeria and India.

Jaishankar took to Twitter to write about Babagana Monguno’s visit to India. Jaishankar tweeted, “Happy to receive NSA Babagana Monguno of Nigeria. Our nations are united by shared traditions, strong solidarity and common aspirations. His visit provides an opportunity to give these practical shapes.”

India is the largest trading partner that Nigeria has and India’s largest trading partner in Africa is Nigeria. India and Nigeria have collaborated in the energy sector. Further on, India has provided assistance to Nigeria by supply of Covid19 vaccines to support their battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

India supplied Covid-19 vaccines to Nigeria under the ‘Vaccine Maitri’ initiative in March 2021. India is taking the lead in terms of supplying the vaccines to more than 70 countries over commercial and humanitarian grounds.
