Senior Citizen Appeal to the PM

Shri Narendra Modiji,

Wishing you success on the enterprising endeavors like Swatchh Bharat, Make in India, Digital India Initiatives to take India to the next level. We want to take this opportunity to bring to your kind notice to our appeal to enable Senior Citizens to lead a respectful remaining life by –

  1. Increasing the Interest rate on Senior Citizen Savings Scheme (SCSS) in all Nationalised banks to at least 10% (7.5% currently) with the interest paid on a monthly (paid quarterly currently).

Raise the Income tax limit from 15 lakhs to 30 lakhs – this will enable the senior citizens to get a monthly interest of about Rs. 25,000/- lowering the dependency level on their children.

Increasing the investment time period from 5 years to 15 years in par with the life expectancy of 75 years and also not levying tax on the income from such investments.

A resolution to be passed that the interest rate should never be reduced instead increased to fight inflation.

  • Exemption from Income tax filing for a Senior Citizen income less than Rs. 5 lakhs.
  • Facilitate buying of medicines, Pathology checkups, treatments (in-patient & out-patient) on Aadhar card submission with a flat reduction of 30% on the billing cost across the country.

And also reduction of medical premiums.

After working close to four decades to provide a respectful life to their families, the Senior Citizens especially those retiring without any pension schemes would want to live the remaining days with dignity and not being a liability to their children.

We elected you with the hope that you would take care of us but are dismayed with the neglect. Humbly hoping that the good sense will prevail and our sleepless nights will end.

Hoping huge support to this initiative and reminding one-self before casting their votes to false promises.

Requesting all likeminded Senior Citizens and would be soon Senior Citizens to forward, share this message in their groups.

For a Better Dignified Life ahead!

Yours Truly

Senior Citizens of India
