Amidst the polling of fourth phase of West Bengal Assembly Elections on Saturday, 4 men were killed by Central Forces in Cooch Behar, after which Trinamool Congress has been demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah from his post by terming the incident as a conspiracy planned by the latter.

While addressing the press conference at party headquarters, TMC MP Sougat Roy said, “The firing took place because common people were resisting the effort by BJP hooligans to disrupt the voting. They are being encouraged by Central Armed Police Force and we feel this is a conspiracy headed by Home Minister, we are demanding his resignation.”

Roy added, “Why did Central Armed Police Forces fire? Where do they get this audacity of firing on common voters? That is the main question. This is a part of the conspiracy and we do not think that the Prime Minister is out of conspiracy. This is an effort to intimidate the voters.”

The official sources have confirmed the death of four people in the district. After the incident, the Election Commission adjourned the poll in PS 126 of Sitalkurchi AC based on the reports from Special Observers.
