US to give away over 3 multi-choppers to India scheduled for July

The Indian Navy is all set to get its very first set of multi-role helicopters after a waiting period of over ten years, the United States is going to give around three MH-60 Romeo helicopters to the force in the United States as scheduled in the month of July.

The first batch of Indian pilots has arrived in the US to get the required training for the helicopters which would be reaching India in July month. 

India and the US had formalized a deal worth Rs. 16,000 crore for buying 24 MH-Romeo helicopters from Lockheed Martin in 2020 with the fast track procedures for a government-to-government deal to accelerate the process.

According to information revealed by Navy sources to ANI, “The first batch of Indian pilots has reached the US for training on the helicopters and we would be receiving three of these helicopters in the US in July.”

The training of the pilots will be held first in the American city of Pensacola in Florida, following which the pilots would be taken to San Deigo in California, sources added.

The 24 MH-60 Romeos would constitute multi-mode radars and night-vision devices along with Hellfire missiles, torpedoes, and precision-guided weaponry. The MH-60 on arrival will replace Sea Kings. The helicopters are structured to facilitate operation from frigates, destroyers, cruisers, and aircraft carriers.

Meanwhile, India and the US are working together to finalize the deal of buying 30 Predator drones to strengthen the strike capabilities of the three defence forces of the country.
