Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa cleared the air on Thursday regarding the reports of ministers being unhappy with the reallocation of portfolios and iterated that all the ministers are together, will be attending the cabinet meetings and there are no differences in opinion among them.

Yediyurappa stated, “All the ministers are together and will attend the Cabinet meeting. There is no difference of opinion among the new ministers, all of them are happy.”

On January 13, seven new ministers were inducted into Yediyurappa’s cabinet. In a short period post that, many MLA’s expressed their dissent. Post a meeting with the Health Minister Dr Sudhakar which had ministers from the Cabinet, the reallocation was discussed and confirmed. MRB Nagaraj revealed his ordeal to the media, “I served as Housing minister before and was helping poor by building houses. I was developing slums also. Later, I resigned. I got excise department now. What work can one do in excise department? The government will purchase from the company and will give it to wholesale dealers, I have no work to do in this. So, I have told the Chief Minister that I donot want this portfolio.”

Alongside, the Food and Civil Supplies was alloted to Umesh Katti by taking it over from K Gopalayya. As Yediyurappa got acquainted with the discontent of the ministers, a meeting was organized with him and the ministers along with Home Minister Basavaraj Bommau and Revenue Minister R Ashok. Post the meeting with CM, Gopalayya said to the media, “I met the CM last night (Wednesday). For twelve months I held the Food and the Civil Supplies portfolio. We will sort out whatever differences have cropped up between us, behind closed doors. We will do our best in taking care of the duties, which the Chief Minister has vested on us.”
