At the verge of the commencement of Covid-19 vaccination drive from January 16, Delhi Health Minister revealed on Sunday that as many as 89 hospitals have been finalized in New Delhi for the inoculation programme for the first phase.

While addressing the media, Jain stated, “In Delhi, 89 sites have been finalized for the first phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive. 36 government hospitals and 53 private hospitals have been identified for vaccination drive from January 16. In the first phase, healthcare workers will be vaccinated followed by frontline workers. Teachers have also been included in the category of frontline workers.”

The minister further revealed the vaccine vials will supposedly reach Delhi by January 12-13. Around 8-12 people will be deployed at each centre for vaccination. When questioned if the vaccine will be free or not, Jain responded, “For now, it will be free for the healthcare and frontline workers. Yesterday Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged the Central Government for free inoculation of the Covid-19 vaccine for all people across the country.”

The Covid-19 vaccination drive will commence on January 16 in the country. The decision was finalized on Saturday where Prime Minister assessed the current scenario of Covid-19 across the country and the preparedness of states and union territories regarding the vaccination drive.
