India and China are planning to hold the eight round of Corps Commander level talks in the forthcoming week for disengagement and de-escalation along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh.

According to the ANI, the government source stated, “The eighth round of talks are likely to be held this week for which the dates are being worked out between the two sides.”

The upcoming discussion seems likely crucial as both sides have commenced the talks regarding disengagement and de-escalation with respect to all friction points in Eastern Ladakh which comprises of Northern and Southern bank of Pangong Lake and also includes other points which require complete disengagement.

For the eight round of talks, 14 Corps Commander Lieutenant General PGK Menon will be representing the Indian side, who recently took charge over Lt General Harinder Singh.

India and China have been on constant border disputes for over four months now, and India has preempted the Chinese and occupied dominating heights for both the south and north side of Pangong lake. China opposed the move though Indian Army was monitored under Line of Actual Control (LAC). Chinese side fire was observed in air at regions where Indian Army took up higher positions on strategic heights like Rezang La, Rechen La and many other hill features.
